October 2017
Skiing with Disability Sports at ChillFactore, Manchester

Date: Sunday 8th October 2017
Time: 10.30am onwards - will be slots which I will organise closer to the time!
Location: Chill Factore, Trafford Quays Leisure Village, Trafford Way, Manchester M41 7JA
Price: £5 per person

Due to the succes of the last skiing event two years ago, we will be returning to Chill Factore in Manchester to have another go!

Children (and parents) will be able to have a go at skiiing in the fantastic venue Chill Factore. Chill Factore is proud to be the 2010 winner of the Manchester Tourism 'Access for All' award which recognises excellence in accommodating the needs of guests with disabilities. And we could see why on our last visit. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Disability Snowsport UK is a nationwide registered charity, based at Chill Factore and they provide adaptive skiing for individuals with any disability, including physical, sensory and learning difficulties. By using adaptive equipment and specialist instruction and support, they are able to cater for even those with very limited mobility, so we’ll have you whizzing down the slope in no time!

There are 12 Sitski's available spaced throughout the day then 10 groups of 5 on stand up skis. The Sitski's are for the children with mobility issues who will be unable to stand in normal skis. We will be running sessions throughout the day so once tickets are booked up I will organise slots. Please email me if you have a requirement for time. I will do my absolute best to accommodate all requests but obviously cannot promise that I will be able to fulfil all of them. My priority will be attempting to get families in around the Sitski's then to fulfil all other requests.

To get an idea of what you expect, you can view our last event with quotes and pictures on our website at:

Time: 10am - 12pm
Address: Activity Room 1, Mencap Leeds, 20 Vinery Terrace, Leeds, LS9 9LU
Price: £2 per adult (includes cold buffet lunch). Children Free.

Cerebra will be holding a 1 hour presentation on sleep: Understanding and Managing Sleep. This will help groups of parents and carers to understand what is a typical sleep pattern, as well as common sleep problems and techniques for solving these problems. Parents are sometimes asked to attend this presentation after seeing a paediatrician or other professional for sleep advice but if you have a child with one or more of the following sleep issues you are invited to attend:

We can help with:
» Bedwetting
» Night waking
» Difficulty getting to sleep
» Early rising
» Night terrors
» Nightmares
» Head banging/rocking
» Unable to sleep alone
» Obstructive sleep apnoea
» Narcolepsy
» Pain at night
» Anxiety at night
» Restless leg syndrome
» Sleep walking
» Epilepsy
» Daytime sleepiness
» Periodic limb movement disorder
» Spasms
» Delayed sleep phase
» This list is not exhaustive

This is a free and confidential sleep service to parents and carers of children 16 and under who have a brain injury, neurological disorder or developmental condition. They are not able to give specific advice to individuals at the presentation but 1:1 support at a sleep clinic or self referral to the sleep service is offered to all those who attend.

You can download the Cerebra Sleep Leaflet as a PDF here.

Children are welcome and the attached Soft Play room will be open. However, we must stress that this Presentation is not really suitable for children. We recommend that to get the full use out of this Presentation that you find childcare if you can and use the Soft Play facilities if there is no other option.

There will also be a cold buffet lunch available afterwards for all attendees.

October 2017

Little Hiccups have arranged a private tour at Leeds and Bradford Airport. This is not a Family Fun Day but an opportunity to explore the Airport and checking in procedures if you have a child with additional needs. This is an ideal tour if you are planning a holiday abroad in the next year.

Part of the tour will be to go through the checking in procedures. Please be aware everyone who wants to go airside must carry an in date photo driving license or passport.
