SUMMARY:2026 04 28 Juniper Tree Therapy: Encouraging Eating (IN PERSON)
DESCRIPTION:Sensory strategies to help with eating difficulties\n(Experient
 ial lunchtime session)\n\nMealtimes can be a source of stress for children
  with sensory sensitivities or emotional regulation challenges. This exper
 iential lunchtime session offers practical\, sensory-informed strategies t
 o support children who struggle with eating.\n\nWe’ll explore how sensor
 y processing can affect appetite\, food preferences\, and mealtime behavio
 urs—and share gentle approaches to help make eating more enjoyable and l
 ess overwhelming. From textures and smells to routines and environments\, 
 we’ll look at what might help reduce anxiety and encourage positive expe
 riences around food.\n\nThis is a relaxed\, hands-on session where you’l
 l have the chance to try out ideas\, ask questions\, and connect with othe
 rs navigating similar challenges.\n\n\n\nEach in-person course will have a
  max of 15 attendees and will be in a Workshop format.\n\nThe course will 
 run 12pm-1.30pm. When booking\, please do let me know of any dietary requi
 rements. Bookings close a week before the event to allow planning.\n\nWe a
 pologise – but these courses are not suitable for children and there is 
 no childcare available.\n\nAccessibility\n\n– The ground is all one leve
 l\n– There are disabled toilets and a Changing Place\n– There is plent
 y of parking around the back of the building (including Blue Badge spaces)

 e Therapy is a Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapy team\, supportin
 g children\, young people and their families across Leeds. We are passiona
 te about supporting those with a wide range of unique needs\, including le
 arning difficulties\, neurodevelopmental conditions\, physical and motor i
 mpairments\, and sensory and emotional difficulties.\n\nWe consider how an
  individual’s nervous system perceives sensory information\; from the wo
 rld around them\, and from within their own body. We then consider how thi
 s impacts on the way that children engage in daily life\, and how they are
  able to connect with the important people around them.\n\nWe consider the
  family as a whole\, and we are passionate about ensuring that the child o
 r young person is their own ‘expert’ about their experiences\, strengt
 hs and areas of challenge. We are also able to interpret their bodily resp
 onses\, and the perspectives of their close family\, friends\, and other K
 ey Adults.\n\nUsing a Sensory Integration and Sensory Attachment Intervent
 ion lens helps us to understand what is beneath a presenting difficulty. T
 his means we can create recommendations and guidance to help to provide su
 pport within each child’s individual family life. We focus on providing 
 repeated opportunities for regulation and connection across the day\, to h
 elp the brain to ‘rewire’ in response to regulating experiences.\n\nVi
