Temple Newsam is a breathtaking Tudor–Jacobean estate in East Leeds, encompassing a grand 16th-century mansion, Capability Brown parkland, lakes, a rare-breed farm, adventure playgrounds, and more.
Inside the house, visitors can explore 40 beautifully restored rooms filled with Chippendale furniture, silver, and decorative art—one of the finest collections outside London. Families can experience history through interactive trails and dressing-up bays, making the visit both educational and fun.
Home Farm is a working rare-breed farm where you’ll meet pigs, sheep, geese, and guinea pigs, alongside a brand-new Play Barn. There are indoor and outdoor play areas for toddlers and older children, as well as an adventure playground complete with zip-lines for those looking for extra excitement.
The grounds offer 1,500 acres of accessible parkland, lakes, woodland, and formal gardens, perfect for scenic walks. There are trails for walking, cycling, and horse-riding, as well as opportunities for nature watching throughout the year. Families can enjoy picnic spots, benches, tea rooms, and an on-site café for refreshments.
Temple Newsam also hosts regular seasonal and school-holiday events, including Christmas trails, wreath-making workshops, roof tours, and even Go Ape zip-wire adventures. Talks, tours, and heritage experiences are offered year-round, ensuring there’s always something new to discover.
Family Mosaic at Temple Newsam
Our mosaic design celebrates the unique experiences and memories families create at Temple Newsam. It features Billy’s iconic hat that never leaves his head, the autism symbol, and vibrant leaves, flowers, bugs, and sticks arranged in a loose shape of the estate’s boundary. These elements reflect the natural beauty and sensory richness of the grounds.
The mosaic also includes a swan, representing the special moments feeding wildlife—Billy’s favorite, because it comes so close!
This artwork is more than decoration—it’s a story of inclusion, nature, and family connection at Temple Newsam.
