Welcome to Stay & Play at TCV Skelton Grange!
We are so excited to bring Little Hiccups to the great outdoors. These guidelines ensure a safe, welcoming, and “hiccup-friendly” environment for all our families.
🌳 The Outdoor Environment
-
Bees: Please be aware that there are active beehives located next door. We recommend avoiding open sugary drinks to discourage them.
-
Open Water: There is a pond on-site that the centre use for dipping (not available during these events). While we shepherd children away, they remain the parent/carer’s responsibility at all times.
-
Terrain: Paths around Skelton Grange are uneven. Please take care, especially when accessing the “Hobbit House,” which has a raised door lip.
-
Weather: We play in most conditions! Please wear suitable outdoor clothing. In cases of extreme winds or temperatures, we may move indoors or cancel.
🏎️ Parking & Access
-
Priority Parking: The car park nearest the building is reserved for those with mobility issues or children who are a flight risk.
-
General Parking: All other families are encouraged to park on the entrance road to keep the main area safe.
-
The Road: While there is a gate to the road, please remain vigilant as children are prone to wandering.
👶 Age & Access
-
These sessions are designed for children under 5.
-
Older siblings are welcome but must respect the play space and follow all safety rules.
-
We understand developmental age may differ from physical age; please chat with a team member if you have any questions.
🧠 Sensory Support & Respect
-
Noise: TCV is near a Yorkshire Water site which can occasionally be loud. We provide noise-cancelling headphones if this becomes distressing.
-
Quiet Zones: We maintain plenty of space for quiet regulation.
-
Neurodiversity: We celebrate every unique child. Please be patient—some children may need more space or express themselves differently.
-
No Judgement: Behaviour is communication. We use positive management and are here to support you, not judge you.
🍎 Hygiene, Health & Allergies
-
Sickness: To protect our vulnerable community, do not attend if your child has had a fever in the last 24 hours or diarrhoea/vomiting in the last 48 hours.
-
Allergy Safety: To reduce risks, please do not bring your own food. We provide allergy-safe snacks based on the info you provide at booking.
-
Bees & Medical: If your child has a known bee sting allergy, please ensure you bring your own EpiPen and alert a staff member.
⚠️ Emergency & Safety
-
First Aid: A first aid kit is kept on-site, and a trained Hiccups rep is always present.
-
Supervision: Staff support the session, but they are not responsible for supervising children; this remains with the parent/carer.
-
Hot Drinks: For safety, hot drinks are made by the team in the kitchen (no children allowed) and must be used in sealed travel mugs.
By booking, you agree to follow these rules to keep our community safe and happy!
