📝 About the Session
- What we will be doing: Young people are constantly navigating relationships, expectations and interactions with other people. But supporting them isn’t about teaching them to fit a particular idea of “appropriate” social behaviour. In this workshop, we’ll explore relationships, boundaries, influence and discernment from a neuro-affirming perspective. We’ll consider how knowledge and understanding can help young people recognise when an interaction feels safe, supportive or productive and when it may be okay to step away. We’ll also explore some of the more difficult influences young people may encounter, including online communities and the ‘manosphere’, and how we can talk about these spaces without shame while supporting critical thinking and safety. Finally, we’ll consider generational differences and misunderstandings, including situations where family members or other adults may not understand a young person’s disability, gender or sexuality.
- What to expect (The Vibe): An interactive, collaborative workshop format designed to give explore relationships, boundaries, influence and discernment from a neuro-affirming perspective and practical tools to support both your child and yourself. The course runs from 10:00am – 12:00pm, followed by lunch and dedicated time for your questions. Each in-person course has a maximum of 15 attendees.
- Who it’s for: We apologise, but these courses are not suitable for children and there is no childcare available. This is a chance for you to learn practical tools, build family relationships, and chat with people who get it!
- Date & Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm (Plus lunch and questions afterwards)
