📝 About the Course
- What we will be learning: Turning 18 is often a daunting administrative cliff-edge for SEND families. This session will focus on the shift from childhood to adult support.
Protecting Means-Tested Benefits: How inheritance, gifts, and personal savings accounts can accidentally breach capital limits (£6,000 / £16,000) and how proper planning prevents this.
Managing Bank Accounts & Independence: Opening everyday bank accounts for young adults with additional needs and navigating app-based vs. branch banking
Appointeeship vs. Court of Protection: Practical advice on how parents can legally manage finances and benefits once their child reaches adulthood if they lack capacity.
- Course Structure: A 45-minute presentation followed by an optional 15-minute Q&A.
- Who it’s for: Strictly for parents and carers of children with additional needs or disabilities. Grab a cuppa, get comfortable on the sofa, and join us from home!
- Date & Time: Tuesday 27th April 2027 – 10am to 11am.
