Little Hiccups hosted a Superhero Award Ceremony for 27 of our fantastic children who were awarded a superhero medal and certificate. The event was held on August 14th at Brigshaw High School in Leeds.
The Superhero Award ceremony has been made possible with thanks to Zurich who have sponsored the awards and places of the children winning the prizes by sponsoring the entry into The Superhero Series which is powered by Marvel. The children were also entered into a race on the day, for a bit of fun. They each have a green ball of ‘Kyptonite’ which they had to get across the playground to save the Superheroes. Sidekicks were available to help if needed and high fives were given throughout!
The awards were hosted by Kevin Sharp, Deputy and Clerk to the Lord Lieutenant, who attended in uniform.
There were also a raffle, fundraising stalls, cake stall, plant stall as well as games, crafting, lego play and facepainting to help entertain the children (and adults!)
We had Super Sparkles back…sorry…SUSIE Sparkles 😉 and Claire’s Facepainting. Claire actually donated her time for this event, for which we are incredibly grateful.
We also had a Hiccups mum donate her time to create the beautiful balloon archway you saw as you entered – check out AB Decors if you can.
As well as the Superhero Awards, there were other competitions (Best costume, best cake, best fundraiser and best artwork) and the awards for these were sponsored by Ison Harrison who donated a first, second and third prize for each category. We also had a couple of their staff come down to present the prizes and help behind the stalls!
There was an extra prize for the lego stall presented by Louise from The Growing Zone – for the best Lego Artwork on the day.
The Growing Zone, based in Kippax was also highly involved throughout the process and were present on the day running stalls and helping to fundraise for Little Hiccups. They are a Charity as well and yet they spent their day raising for Little Hiccups. We do love them!
Each child that attended (including siblings) received a Goody Bag on the day, which has been sponsored by Little Hiccups, Garforth Lions, The Growing Zone, and Lush through donations.
We are so incredibly proud of all our Hiccups families and absolutely loved being able to show them what absolute heroes they are. Every single one of these children deserve this award. We are hoping to make this an annual event as every one of Little Hiccups’ children really does deserve to be acknowledged as the Superheroes they are.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped out by donating to this event for the raffle, for the stalls (the donated cakes were absolutely gorgeous!) or with their time. It really was an event where everyone came together to help acknowledge our heroes and to make their day a special one. Thank you everyone!
