My name is Dawn and I practise as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist (SFH). This therapy is an approach that combines hypnosis (deep relaxation) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) techniques. This includes solution focused discussion, forward looking visualisation and the use of positive language. Each session is characterised by a positive, uplifting, and enjoyable experience underpinned by neuroscience.
SFH works effectively with children (7+) and adults. I work on a 1:1 basis – however parents are invited to the initial consultation when working with a child to ensure a shared understanding of the way the sessions work.
I have over 30 years’ experience in the NHS, half of my career as a clinical specialist physiotherapist working in paediatrics supporting families with children with neurodevelopmental conditions, and laterally as a senior leader shaping services for children and adults within therapy and dietetic services. My clinical and leadership background within the NHS has provided me with a deep understanding of the pressures families face, particularly when navigating additional needs and complex life challenges.
As a parent to a child (now young adult!) with autism and ADHD I bring valuable lived experience to my work. I understand the impact that stress, anxiety and overwhelm can have on a family’s life which fuels my passion around providing a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where individuals can focus on positive change.
Using solution focused hypnotherapy I help individuals build resilience, reduce anxiety and regain a sense of control, leading to an increase in confidence and an ability to cope with the challenges of everyday life.
