Stay n Play Rules
Welcome to our inclusive Stay & Play sessions! These guidelines are here to help everyone enjoy a safe, welcoming, and fun environment.
Age & Access
Our Stay & Play sessions are designed for children under 5.
Older siblings are welcome, but please note that the soft play area is strictly for children aged 8 and under.
We understand that developmental age may differ from physical age. If you’re unsure whether your child can safely use the soft play, please speak to a team member.
Soft Play Safety
- Soft play is for children aged 8 and under to protect our youngest attendees.
- No rough play, climbing on the outside of equipment, or throwing toys.
- Shoes off, socks on in the soft play area.
- Children must be supervised by their parent or carer at all times.
- ➤ Our staff are here to support if needed, but they are not responsible for supervising children.
Sensory Room
- Open to children of all ages and abilities.
- A calm, inclusive space for children who prefer a quieter environment or need sensory regulation.
- Please supervise your child and be mindful of others using the space.
Siblings & Guests
- Siblings are welcome to join the session, but must follow the same rules and respect the soft play age limit.
- If your child needs extra support, you’re welcome to bring a helper or speak to a team member for assistance.
Respecting Differences
We celebrate neurodiversity and understand that every child is unique.
Please be kind, patient, and understanding — some children may express themselves differently or need more space.
Hygiene & Health
To protect our vulnerable children, please do not attend if your child is unwell.
We follow Public Health England guidelines and ask that all families do the same.
Key exclusions include:
- Diarrhoea or vomiting: Stay away for 48 hours after the last episode.
- Fever: Stay away for 24 hours or until the temperature returns to normal.
- Coronavirus symptoms: Stay away for 7 days, and the family for 14 days.
- If symptoms develop within 14 days of attending a session, please let us know so we can inform other families.

Boundaries & Behaviour
We encourage parents to use positive behaviour management and understand that different needs may present different behavioural challenges.
We understand that behaviour is a form of communication, and children are welcome to engage with activities however they feel comfortable — as long as they and others are safe.
There is absolutely no judgement, and our team is here to support you if needed.
However, the safety of all children is paramount. As a consequence, we ask the following:
- We operate a hands, feet, and objects to yourself rule at all times.
- Children remain the parent/carer’s responsibility at all times.
- If your child is impinging on another’s personal space — or is on the receiving end — we ask that you gently remove the children from the situation or distract.
- If the issue continues, please speak to a member of the Little Hiccups team to help resolve it.

Emergency Procedures & Medical Information
- In the event of an emergency, please follow staff instructions promptly.
- Emergency exits are clearly marked — take a moment to familiarise yourself with their locations.
- If you become separated from your child, alert a staff member immediately.
- A first aid kit is available on site, and trained staff are present to assist if needed.
- Please let us know if your child has any medical conditions, allergies, or additional needs we should be aware of.
- To reduce allergy risks, please do not bring your own food into the session. If your child has specific dietary needs, speak to a team member in advance.
