📝 About the Event

  • What we will be doing: Does your child love to sing, dance, or act? Are they curious about musicals and live performances—or just keen to try something new. Then this workshop is perfect for them! No previous experience is needed. In this exciting session, children will dive into the magical world of musical theatre. They will learn performance techniques, build confidence, and take part in a fun, physical theatre piece choreographed by Kathleen—inspired by the enchanting world of Aladdin.Step inside the bustling streets of Agrabah and explore the magic of this beloved tale through:
    • Dance
    • Physical theatre
    • Magical storytelling
    • Music

An exciting session diving into the magical world of musical theatre! Inspired by Aladdin, children will learn performance techniques, build stage confidence, explore magical storytelling, and take part in a fun physical theatre piece. Every participant will receive a Magic Lamp Certificate of Achievement!

  • Is it structured? Yes, it is a structured but highly supportive workshop. Children will participate in creative, themed musical theatre activities, learn choreographed phrases, and work together to create their own mini-production. No pressure to perform alone or do anything they are uncomfortable with! Children can dip in and out according to their needs.
  • Who it’s for & Group Size: Aimed at an ability range roughly between 6–11 years, though we do not exclude based on age alone. Siblings are welcome! Children requiring 1:1 support are warmly welcome to join in the fun with their parent or carer.
  • Date & Time: Wednesday 27th May, 10.30am – 12.30pm

⭐ Meet Your Instructor

Kathleen is a freelance Teacher and Choreographer with over 30 years of experience in the performing arts sector. During this time, she founded her own community dance company (Katz & Co studios, staging productions at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds) and has worked as part of a multi-agency team as a Dance Therapist.

She has spent many years teaching therapeutic and curriculum dance across primary, secondary, and alternative provision sites. Kathleen is incredibly passionate about supporting others and is a huge advocate for equality, diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and belonging.

In addition to her performance background, Kathleen is a qualified Reiki practitioner (attuned to level 2) and a certified Physiognomist (face reading). She is also a very proud mum and carer to three wonderful children, two of whom are neurodivergent, and was herself recently diagnosed with ADHD!
