We recognise that suicidal thoughts are prevalent among young people, particularly those with additional needs. Research indicates that approximately 20% of teens and young people have seriously considered suicide, with higher rates among those with disabilities and mental health conditions
. Our course aims to provide support and resources to help parent/carers address these challenges effectively.
The key objectives are
- To consider the attitudes, myths, and stigma that surround suicide
- To recognise and explore the ‘signs’ that may indicate someone is having thoughts of suicide
- To encourage an open, safe and sensitive conversation about suicide with a person having thoughts of suicide
- To support a safety plan with someone thinking of suicide
This is an online course for parent/carers only. This course is not suitable for professionals. We want to keep and ensure a safe space for parent/carers to talk freely.
I will email the zoom details one week before. Please check spam.
The course will run 9.30am-1pm
We apologise – but these courses are not suitable for children.
Please do let us know if you have an access requirements.
