This summer, Little Hiccups families came together for a series of joyful weekly picnics, exploring the beautiful and inclusive spaces that make up our Mosaic Trail. From nature reserves to city parks, each location offered something special—and of course, Hiccups Bear came along for every adventure!
🧺 Starting at St Aidan’s: A New Mosaic and a Day to Remember
We kicked off our summer at RSPB St Aidan’s Nature Park, celebrating the installation of our newest mosaic: A New Mosaic at St Aidan’s: Celebrating Nature, Family, and Creativity. Designed by young artist Tilly and brought to life by mosaic artist Mary Goodwin, this piece reflects the beauty and accessibility of St Aidan’s—a place full of wildlife, open skies, and community spirit.
Families gathered for a relaxed picnic, explored the reserve, and admired the mosaic in its new home. It was a perfect start to our summer trail.

🌳 Golden Acre Park
Next, we headed to Golden Acre Park, a Leeds favourite with its lush gardens, woodland walks, and lakeside views. The weather was kind, and the children enjoyed garden games while parents chatted and relaxed. It was lovely to see new friendships forming—sometimes a little shy at first, but always warm and welcoming.

🐦 Rodley Nature Reserve
Our third stop was Rodley Nature Reserve, a hidden gem for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The reserve’s peaceful paths and wildlife hides made it a calming spot for families to connect with nature and each other. Hiccups Bear was spotted peeking into bird hides and joining in the fun!

🍃 Western Flatts Cliff Park
Although the weather turned a bit nippy at Western Flatts Cliff Park, it didn’t dampen our spirits. This urban green space offered plenty of room for games and exploration. Families wrapped up warm and made the most of the day, proving that a little chill can’t stop a good picnic!

🏰 Lotherton Hall – A Grand Finale
We ended our summer trail at Lotherton Hall, and it was by far the most popular stop! With its historic house, wildlife park, and expansive grounds, Lotherton offered something for everyone. The sun came out, the games were in full swing, and laughter echoed across the lawns. It was a perfect way to wrap up a season of connection, creativity, and community.
