We’ve been coming to Sundown Adventureland for 8 years now. Every year (with the exception of 2020 which is best left unsaid!), we have organised a trip to see Santa at Sundown. To many of our families, myself included, it is now the official start of Christmas and a family tradition.
If you have never been, Sundown in a theme park designed for under 10’s. It is especially fun at Christmas time when it is decorated into a magical wonderland. As the evenings draw in, the market square will come alive with hundreds of twinkling lights and decorations. The shop is full of goodies, (forget those diets it’s Christmas) stocking fillers, small toys, the full range of cherished teddies, piggin’ pigs and snow babies, as well as a large selection of collectors teddy bears and fabulous collectors dolls, Christmas decorations, Santa’s reindeer and lots, lots more.
Everyone who attended was able to also see Santa, and were treated to a ride through a magical and winter world of fairy tale characters such as the Snow Queen, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and many others before being greeted by Rudy and Judy the reindeers. Then it’s off to see Santa and to tell him what we really, really wanted for Christmas. My youngest was so shy and overwhelmed at this point, but Santa is a pro. He knew just what to say and do and we managed to get a lovely family photo at the end.
Then it was time to explore and ride as well as sneak into the warmth every so often to the soft play areas and allow the children to burn off their energy while the adults had a hot chocolate.
After missing last year, it was exactly what we needed. We stayed until it was dark and the decorations and lights were so christmassy it was magical.
