Hello, I want to introduce myself as I have been given this opportunity to work alongside the team at Little Hiccups in the roll of counsellor.
My name is Andrew and I have had a long career in care (thirty three years and counting!) progressing from being a volunteer, care assistant to adult and children’s nursing, all within a variety of health settings, with a large chunk of this time providing holistic care at Martin House Children’s Hospice where I still work.
I soon realised how important communication is in all areas, especially in care and soon recognised the psychological toll on families with children with complex health needs. So I decided to develop these skills by completing my counselling training (Level 4).
I provide person centred counselling, which means you will have a confidential and safe space, were you will have time to be listened to and most importantly heard.
My approach to the sessions is kind, gentle, honest and non-judgemental. This as to create an environment to explore and reflect, leading to a therapeutic relationship providing support for you with any thoughts and challenges you may be having.
I may see some of you at Stay and Play session on a Thursdays
Take care
Andrew Spicer
Sessions may be held at Leeds Mencap during Stay n Play hours (Monday 10am-11.30am and Thursday 1pm-2.30pm)
