The energy was high, the smiles were big, and the talent was absolutely undeniable today! Team Little Hiccups had the absolute pleasure of attending the Learning Disability Celebration Event at the stunning Wakefield Cathedral—and what an unforgettable day it was.
From incredible performances to catching up with familiar faces, the cathedral was absolutely buzzing with joy, community, and inspiration. Here is a quick look at what we got up to!
The Marie Gibb Award Nomination
We are incredibly proud to share that Little Hiccups was nominated for the prestigious Marie Gibb Award!
While we didn’t take the trophy home this time, we aren’t feeling down at all. Being nominated alongside so many phenomenal individuals and organisations was a massive honour in itself. When you are in a room completely packed with people dedicated to making the world a brighter, more inclusive place, everyone wins! A massive congratulations to all the worthy winners and nominees.
Makaton Melodies & 80’s Moves
The entertainment today completely stole the show. We were treated to two absolutely brilliant performances:
The Makaton Choir: There wasn’t a dry eye in the house! Hearing (and seeing!) them perform was incredibly moving and a beautiful reminder of the power of inclusive communication.
An 80s “Dance” Routine: Talk about a blast from the past! This high-energy performance had everyone tapping their toes and brought a massive dose of retro fun to the cathedral.
Old Friends & Beautiful Spaces
Beyond the awards and the entertainment, the best part of the day was simply connecting. We had the chance to catch up with so many wonderful friends, old and new. Doing all of this inside the breathtaking, historic walls of Wakefield Cathedral made the entire event feel even more special.
Thank You!
A massive thank you to the organisers, the performers, and everyone who makes this event possible every year. We left with full hearts, inspired minds, and maybe a few 80’s tunes stuck in our heads.
