Our Watersports Day at Hollingworth Lake was blessed with brilliant weather, which set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable day outdoors. Families arrived ready to get on the water and make the most of the sunshine.

There was a busy start as everyone arrived at once, which meant a bit of waiting around before activities could begin. We know this wasn’t ideal, and we’re already planning changes for next time so families can book time slots in advance and get going straight away. Thank you to everyone for being patient — you handled it amazingly.

Once things settled, the lake quickly filled with activity. Families took to the accessible boats, kayaks, and the wheelie boat, which was a firm favourite. Children loved steering the larger passenger boat, and siblings enjoyed being able to join in together without limits. The atmosphere stayed relaxed throughout, with families taking things at their own pace and enjoying the chance to be out on the water.

Feedback from the day was thoughtful and really helpful. Families appreciated how inclusive the activities were and how staff worked hard to accommodate everyone, even when sessions filled quickly. Many loved being able to steer the boats and experience the lake together. Some families mentioned they didn’t know exactly what was available until they arrived, and suggested clearer information and pre‑booking options for next time. A few people found the manual hoist unfamiliar and would have liked instructions. Even with the busy start, families described the day as full of fun, laughter, and great memories.

By the afternoon, the lake was full of smiles, splashes, and proud moments. Children steering boats, parents joining in, families experiencing the water together — it all added up to a genuinely great day.
