This past weekend, Little Hiccups hosted an unforgettable event at Clip ‘n Climb Leeds, the ultimate indoor climbing centre. With its 32 unique climbing challenges, Clip ‘n Climb Leeds promises an action-packed day out for all ages, and our exclusive booking from 11am to 4pm was no exception.
Tailored Safety and Accessibility
The day began with a tailored safety briefing, ensuring that all climbers, regardless of their needs, were well-prepared. The centre’s commitment to inclusivity was evident with the availability of 10 toddler harnesses for our youngest climbers (ages 2.5-4 years) and the latest SEND-friendly Assist Hoist System. This system, used in conjunction with The Adventure harness, provided the necessary support for those with additional needs, such as Cerebral Palsy. The SEND hoists were a hit, bringing huge smiles to the faces of many children who initially felt uncertain.
Climbing Sessions and Flexibility
We organized 10 climbing slots, each accommodating 10 climbers in 30-minute intervals. However, the atmosphere was relaxed, allowing for flexibility as long as there were enough harnesses. This approach ensured that everyone had ample time to enjoy the climbing experience. Parents and carers played a crucial role, assisting their children throughout the sessions, with Clip ‘n Climb staff on hand to provide support and training.
Delicious Food and Refreshments
No event is complete without great food, and Clip ‘n Climb Leeds did not disappoint. There was a rolling buffet that included a variety of delicious options such as pizza, chilli, sandwiches, chips, jacket potatoes, chicken nuggets, tomato soup, and garlic bread. Unlimited drinks were available, with juice for the kids and tea and coffee for the adults. The on-site restaurant also offered additional items like desserts and ice cream, catering to various dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegan options.
Accessibility and Facilities
Clip ‘n Climb Leeds is fully accessible, with a small car park that includes disabled parking spots, unisex and disabled toilets, and a hydraulic variable height changing couch. A mobile hoist was also available for harness changes, ensuring that all participants could enjoy the day comfortably.
A Day to Remember
Every so often, an event comes along that ticks all the boxes, and this was one of them. Despite minor hiccups, such as traffic issues due to a Leeds United match, the day was a resounding success. Children smashed their #NoLimits targets, whether it meant conquering their fears or climbing with the confidence of a mountain goat. The staff were brilliant, patient, and experienced, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
The smiles, laughter, and sense of achievement made this day truly special. We look forward to many more events like this and can’t wait to return to Clip ‘n Climb Leeds for another fantastic day of climbing and family fun.
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, and see you at the next Little Hiccups event!
