📝 About the Course
- What we will be learning: Did you know there’s a fancy word for noticing what’s going on inside our bodies? Interoception is our sense for knowing if we’re hot or cold, hungry or full, tired or energised, and even how we’re feeling, like happy, excited, or frustrated. Tuning into our bodies isn’t always easy. And as you might imagine, if tuning in is tricky, then looking after ourselves can be tricky too. The good news is that interoception can be strengthened with practice. Come along to this workshop to explore interoception and take away practical tools for self-care, building skills to help ourselves and support our children too.
- Course Structure: A dedicated, interactive online workshop running from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Each session is limited to a maximum of 20 attendees to keep it personal and supportive.
- Who it’s for: Strictly for parents and carers of children with additional needs or disabilities. Grab a cuppa, get comfortable on the sofa, and join us from home! Please note that these courses are not suitable for children and there is no childcare available.
- Funding Support: We’re incredibly proud to share that these workshops have been fully funded by the Leeds Parent Carer Forum, ensuring our parents and carers can access this valuable, identity-affirming support at no cost. Their commitment helps make these sessions inclusive and accessible for families navigating autism and neurodiversity.
🎤 About Our Course Leader
Who is running the session: Laura from Laura ND Nurse.
Their Expertise: Laura is Autistic/PDA and ADHD herself. She is a Nurse, Sleep Consultant, Advocate, and also a parent to two Neurodiverse children—so she is living the life and talking the talk! Her speciality is the support of Autistic/ADHD people, but her teaching is created in a way that can be helpful for all families as the foundations are built around mental health, strengthening family relationships, and self-advocacy.
