📝 About the Event
- What we will be doing: An exciting, inclusive musical theatre workshop themed around “The Magic of the Madrigals”! Inspired by the world of Encanto, children will dive into dance, physical theatre, musical storytelling, and music. They will learn choreographed movement phrases and work together to create a wonderful mini-production. No previous experience is needed. Every participant will receive a Miracle Door Certificate of Achievement!
- Is it structured? Yes, this is a structured workshop featuring creative, themed activities and group choreography led by our professional instructor. However, it is entirely low-pressure with a strong focus on joy and gentle, supportive participation.
- Who it’s for & Group Size: Our sessions are aimed at children with an ability range roughly between 6–11 years. However, we know that age doesn’t always reflect ability, so we don’t exclude anyone based on age alone. Older children are very welcome, though the content may feel a little young for some.
- Parent & Carer Info: Parents and carers must remain on site for the duration of the session. A waiting area is available right next door! Children who require 1:1 support are warmly welcome to attend and join in the fun with their adult (no booking required for the adult). Siblings are also welcome to join, but please ensure you book a spot for them.

🎧 Sensory & Calm Spaces
- What Children Can Expect: A safe, highly supportive, and inclusive environment. There will be lots of opportunities for children to share their own imaginative “gift” ideas, build stage confidence, and try new skills in a colourful, joyful, and musical atmosphere.
- What NOT to Expect (Sensory Peace of Mind): We are keeping everything joyful and gentle! There will be no scary “cracking Casita” moments, no unexpected loud bangs or pops, and no real magical doors. Most importantly, there is absolutely zero pressure to perform alone or do anything they feel uncomfortable with.
✨ Meet your Instructor
Kathleen is a freelance Teacher and Choreographer with over 30 years of experience in the performing arts sector. During this time, she founded her own community dance company, “Katz & Co studios” (staging proud productions at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds), and worked as part of a multi-agency team as a Dance Therapist. She has spent many years teaching therapeutic and curriculum dance across primary, secondary, and alternative provision sites.
Kathleen is incredibly passionate about supporting others and is a huge advocate for equality, diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and belonging. She loves sharing her knowledge to enable others to become the best version of themselves. As a youngster, Kathleen discovered she had psychic abilities; she is a qualified Reiki practitioner (attuned to level 2) and a certified Physiognomist (face reading). She is also a very proud mum and carer to three wonderful children, two of whom are neurodivergent, and Kathleen herself was recently diagnosed with ADHD.
