What a night! Last Thursday, Linsay and I dusted off our finest outfits and headed down to the First Direct Arena for the Pride in Diversity Awards.
We were incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for Yorkshire Community Organisation of the Year. While we didn’t bring the trophy home this time, we were beaten by the absolutely phenomenal Women’s Whispers. They are such a deserving charity doing vital work, and we send them the biggest congratulations! 🥳
The room was electric, packed with the most inspiring crowd, and it felt like everyone there was a winner just for the incredible spaces they are creating across Yorkshire.
Familiar Faces & Big Wins! 🌟
We had the absolute joy of bumping into the wonderful Kate Kier, who was also up for a well-deserved award. It is always a highlight to catch up with fellow changemakers!
But the biggest cheer of the night from our table went to young James, one of our very own Little Hiccups kids! He took home the Fundraiser Award, and we couldn’t be prouder of him if we tried. Watch out world, James is on a mission! 🎒💪
Hugs, Humour, and… Dressing Gowns? 🧥👀
A special shout-out has to go to the fantastic team at Getting Clean. Talk about a charity with a brilliant sense of humour! Their lead turned up on stage in his underpants and a dressing gown. I can safely say that when I was getting ready for a glamorous awards night, my vision didn’t involve getting a lovely, big hug from a man in his loungewear—but it was absolutely brilliant and completely made the night! Fun, authentic, and exactly the kind of joy the world needs.
The Journey Continues 🚙💨
Linsay and I had the best time networking, laughing, and celebrating with the best people. For us at Little Hiccups, striving for true diversity and inclusion isn’t a box-ticking exercise—it is a continual journey. We are constantly learning, adapting, and figuring out how to make our community the absolute best it can be for everyone.
We might not have won the trophy this year, but our hearts (and our photo galleries) are completely full. And hey… who knows? Maybe it’ll be our turn next year! 😉
A massive thank you to the organisers, the judges, and everyone who made it a night to remember.
