On Friday 19th September, we had the immense honour of attending the National Diversity Awards 2025, held in the breathtaking Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. With over 87,000 nominations and 126 finalists across 15 categories, the evening was a powerful celebration of the individuals and organisations who are boldly advancing equality, diversity and inclusion across the UK.
Though we didn’t take home the award in our category, we left feeling nothing but inspired and uplifted. To be among such extraordinary changemakers—people whose voices and actions are too often overlooked—was a privilege in itself. The room was filled with the very best of Britain’s brave and bold diversity champions, and we were truly humbled to be part of it.
Honouring the Unsung Heroes of Inclusion
This year’s winners represent a vibrant spectrum of advocacy, creativity and community support. From adaptive fashion designer Victoria Jenkins, to inclusive beauty brand creator Millie Flemington-Clare, and neurodivergent actor/influencer Issy Hawkins, the awards showcased the power of lived experience and authentic representation.
Other standout winners included:
- Mark Nam, a British-born Chinese priest championing racial and religious inclusion
- Spark Inside, a charity supporting prisoners from Black and mixed-race backgrounds
- Black Swan Collective, empowering underrepresented youth
- Volkswagen Group UK Ltd, recognised as Diverse Company of the Year
- Danny Beard, crowned Celebrity of the Year
- Mick Lagbir Singh, honoured with the Lifetime Achiever Award
Each winner reminded us that diversity isn’t about ticking boxes—it’s about people, and the real, lasting impact of their work.
A Night to Remember
Hosted by the ever-inspiring Clare Balding CBE, the evening was a masterclass in celebration and solidarity. Clare’s words resonated deeply:
“Recognising the individuals, organisations and charities that go above and beyond to improve their communities is truly vital. These inspiring and uplifting awards shine a spotlight on the incredible strength and positivity of an inclusive society.”
The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The grandeur of Liverpool Cathedral, the warmth of the crowd, and the delicious food all contributed to a night that felt both sacred and celebratory.
Why These Awards Matter More Than Ever
As conversations around DEI face increasing scrutiny and resistance, the National Diversity Awards stand as a beacon of hope. Founder Paul Sesay reminded us:

We couldn’t agree more. Being part of this event reaffirmed our commitment to inclusion, and reminded us that every voice matters—especially those that have been historically marginalised.
