There is something truly special about seeing a community project come to life, and this past weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Harewood House to see the completed “Community Flowers” installation.
A Labour of Love
Earlier this year, we spent a wonderful mindful morning crafting these paper flowers. It was a time for our families to connect, relax, and get creative. Seeing them now, beautifully arranged and draped over the grand fireplaces of the House, is a testament to the creativity and spirit of our wonderful Little Hiccups families.
The installation was created by Harewood volunteers with help from community partners, including Little Hiccups and Leeds Autism Services. It was such a joy to see our charity’s name featured so prominently and to know that our families played a part in something so beautiful that thousands of visitors will enjoy.
Colour, Creativity, and Connection
The flowers themselves are a burst of colour—vibrant pinks, oranges, and purples—that stand out brilliantly against the historic backdrop of Harewood’s interiors. Each petal and stem represents a moment of focus and togetherness from our craft sessions.
The project was kindly supported by GF Smith, providing the beautiful paper that allowed our families to create such high-quality, lasting blooms.
A Proud Moment for Little Hiccups
Little Hiccups is all about providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for families with children who have additional needs. Seeing the results of our collective effort in such a prestigious setting is a great reminder of the impact our community can have when we come together.
