I am Emily Winter, I love teaching yoga to children and families as it helps them to connect with themselves, find confidence, calm, strength and community together. I qualified as a children’s yoga teacher during my time as a SENCO and began running groups and individual sessions tailored to the needs of each child. I saw the benefits of yoga for children with additional needs straight away.
I was also drawn towards other holistic therapies and am a Clinical Aromatherapist and Massage Therapist. I hold QTS Primary Teacher with a specialism in Vulnerable Learners from the University of Bath where I studied models of inclusion and mindset for learning.
I have worked in schools for over 10 years and was immediately drawn to work holistically, setting up therapeutic storytelling groups, parent support groups and nurture groups for children in my role as special needs co-ordinator. I use story therapeutically in my yoga sessions to explore emotional literacy and I am a huge fan of getting children outdoors and enjoying nature.
I live in Leeds with my two children and I have also co-written a 6 week bespoke yoga for additional needs course for children and parents which includes yoga, massage and aromatherapy. I work with groups and take 1:1 clients from my treatment rooms in Headingly and Meanwood.
