Our fourth week of Drama for the Heart was a whirlwind of mystery, laughter, and high-stakes detective work. This week, we channelled our inner Sherlock Holmes (with a dash of Inspector Clouseau) for our ‘Whodunnit’ theme.
Think classic murder mystery meets the “Pink Panther”—a perfect blend of tension and comedy!
Clues, Characters, and Culprits
We kicked things off by testing our ears with a ‘Murder Mystery TV Soundtrack’ quiz—it’s amazing how much tension a few bars of a theme tune can create!
From there, we moved to the Park Bench, a role-play challenge that required some serious lateral thinking. The goal? Persuade someone to leave the bench without any physical touch. Let’s just say we had some very “interesting” visitors to our imaginary park today!
The creativity truly shone when our members built their own character profiles for their Wanted Posters. You can see our “motley crew” of culprits in the photos—each one with a backstory more suspicious than the last.
The Mystery of the Poisoned Bun 🧁
The highlight of the session was our mini murder mystery game. Our sharp-witted detective eventually cracked the case: Mrs Plum was found guilty of murdering Miss Arsenia Arsewhipe on the London Eye.
The weapon? A poisoned bun. The motive? A lifetimes supply of toilet paper.
(We promise these were the members’ ideas, not ours! But you can’t deny the logic—who wouldn’t want that kind of security?) We even managed to squeeze in a classic round of Wink Murder to keep everyone on their toes.
Reflection & Representation
Beyond the props and the plays, the “break-time” chats are often where the most profound moments happen. Today, we “put the world to rights” by discussing:
- Neurodiverse Media Representation: Sharing our honest opinions on how our community is portrayed on screen.
- Navigating Change: A vital conversation on why transitions and change can be so incredibly difficult for our young people to navigate, and how we can support one another through those shifts.
It was a beautiful balance of high-energy fun and quiet, meaningful reflection. We are so proud of the safe space these members have created together.
What’s Next?
Our members have already decided on the theme for our final week of this block, and we are heading back to basics for a bit of nostalgic fun.
Next week’s theme: In the Playground (Kindergarten/Nursery) 🧸🛝
We can’t wait to see how we bring this block to a close. See you next week!
