Last week, we traded the typical British weather for the tropical shores of Hawaii as our families gathered for an unforgettable Lilo & Stitch Musical Theatre Workshop!
From the moment everyone arrived, the room was buzzing with vibrant energy, bright colours, and big smiles. Guided by the wonderfully talented Kathleen, our young performers dove straight into the playful world of theatre, dance, and storytelling in a completely relaxed, supportive environment.
Hula Skirts, Sensory Fires, and Island Adventures
The workshop kicked off with everyone getting into character—quite literally! Children dressed up in colourful grass skirts, snapped fun photos with Hawaiian-themed photo props, and got decked out in tropical temporary tattoos.
Kathleen brought the island magic to life by leading the group through gentle, imaginative movement phrases and expressive “Stitch-style” choreography. One of the absolute highlights was gathering around our sensory campfire—crafted with glowing warm lights, soft fabrics, and rustic logs—for interactive storytelling and character roleplay.
Parents, carers, and siblings all joined in the fun, learning choreographed dance moves together and cheering each other on.
Limbo Time and Ohana Celebrations
After burning off some energy on the “dance floor,” everyone paused for a well-deserved snack break and a chance to catch up and make new friends.
The excitement peaked towards the end of the session with a spirited game of limbo under our Stitch bunting! Whether ducking low on foot or rolling right under with style, everyone gave it their all.
To wrap up a fantastic afternoon, each participant was presented with their very own Ohana Certificate of Achievement to celebrate their creativity, participation, and teamwork. In the true spirit of Ohana—where nobody gets left behind or forgotten—it was a joy seeing every child shine in their own unique way.
A Huge Thank You!
A massive thank you to Kathleen for leading such an accessible, uplifting, and imaginative session, and to our wonderful Little Hiccups families, staff, and volunteers who made the day so special.
Keep an eye on our events calendar and social media pages for details on our next creative workshops and family meet-ups. We can’t wait to see you all again soon!
