Even Superheroes celebrate Christmas and our Christmas Party this year was the biggest collection of Superheroes I’ve ever seen. Each of our Little Hiccups families have spent the year fighting battles and they certainly deserved to blow off some steam at this year’s party.

The party was held at The Royal Armouries again, and the room was beautifully decorated as always with the finishing touches added to by Celebration Balloons of Rothwell who always manages to bring a splash of colour and wow factor to the room. This year the Armouries had an event on as well and just outside of our party there were Stormtroopers, Jedi, X-Wing Fighters, a Dalek and Dr Who who popped in for a visit and to say hello to some of our families too! Thankfully he didn’t bring the Dalek though…
Susie Sparkles was back as Spider Girl with her friend Super Girl after her brief hiatus this year and it felt like she’d never been away. The children greeted her enthusiastically and were happily entertained for the few hours the party lasted. She certainly kept them busy with dances and games and we even had a little but impressive impromptu song from one of our newer members which was wonderful! So great to see the confidence and the talents of our families.

Santa was of course back visiting us before he disappeared back to the North Pole. I’ve been told that he wouldn’t miss the Little Hiccups party for all the snow in the North Pole. He loves to visit our families even if it means a delay to his holidays after his busy night on Christmas. And thanks to the generous donations from The Disney Store in The White Rose Centre, we managed again to source presents for every child that attended the party. Hopefully they were all ok but please remember to contact us if not!

We were also thankful for the return of the fantastic facepainter Claire (who is always so popular that we asked her to bring a friend this time to help out with the queues!) and Louise who made all those wonderful balloons. I think its her turn to bring a friend next year as I never saw her take a break from start to finish.
Also a massive thanks to Dean Sanderson for turning up to take professional photos of our event. It was Dean that managed to get the annual group photo and he always manages to make the event look good!
All in all, the Christmas Party is only a success every year because so many people come and help us to celebrate, including our fantastic Trustees and Volunteers. To everyone that helps us out – thank you – you are what makes Little Hiccups special. Here’s to 2020 and making more memories together.
