We DID it!
Little Hiccups set out with a team of Fundraisers to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks and I’m pleased and proud to announce that we smashed it!
On Sunday 19th January, Little Hiccups and a Fundraising team consisting of Corporate Supporters, Ison Harrison and Hiccups friends and families descended on Clip n Climb in Leeds to climb the The Yorkshire Three Peaks. The idea was to work as a team and to add all our climbs together until we reached the accumulated height of 2153m. Each wall climbed is 9m so that’s a total of 240 walls to climb.
Our team managed 248 with a total height of 2232m so not only did we reach our target but went above and beyond.
Everyone on the day gave it their all and impressed us all with their #NoLimits attitude. We had several children climbing as well to raise funds for us and some that were also Little Hiccups children. Its events like these that truly humble me as everyone pulls together to raise money for Little Hiccups.
The atmosphere and team camaraderie was wonderful to watch with everyone cheering and encouraging everyone on and to top it all off, by the time this is written, we had raised a fantastic £1055.
A massive thank you to all involved!
And to top all this off, at the same time we managed to run a Family Fun Day with another 70 individuals coming down to climb on a Hiccups day trip at the same time (we like a little bit of chaos!) Families were climbing alongside our fundraisers and we had some fantastic success stories from the day from first timers and families that have been before.
We also had 10 children in the SEND harnesses which is a full body harness so that the child does not need to use their arms or legs to be hoisted up the wall. It gives children who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience a wall climbing event the chance to do it! The walls are very brightly coloured and lit up as well so it adds to the sensory experience. Some were not so keen but tried it so it can now be ticked off the list, a couple were uncertain with it but willing to try again (you are being hoisted 9m into the air!) but some loved it and found the experience exhilarating. We know that not every event works for every child but we are very much believe the thought process that you will never know unless you try it! I’m so proud of those of you that did!
A massive thank you as well to Clip n Climb Leeds for hosting us for the day and providing all the wonderful food to feed our hungry climbers. The staff are fantastic, patient, calm and well trained. We obviously couldn’t do it without you but love how you take everything in your stride! It makes us feel welcome. Thank you.
“We had the best time as usual so once again thank you massively.. the amount of confidence he has now amazes me. He had a meltdown when we got there and it feels so good knowing nobody is staring and judging. We really do love hiccups.”
