Christmas at Sundown is an annual tradition for Little Hiccups and it never fails to disappoint. In fact, if anything it gets better and smoother every year.
Little Hiccups take approximately 200 people to Sundown and we’ve been visiting for a few years now at Christmas time and for a lot of families (myself included) it is the start of the Christmas season. The decorations and the lights set a lovely atmosphere and Mr and Mrs Claus are welcoming, inviting, accepting and patient. You never feel rushed and my nervous 3 year old even spoke to him to ask for her Christmas present (though she drew the line at going to close!) The grotto is beautifully decorated and the ride into it magical no matter how many times we go. The elves on the entrance are so friendly and we recognised a few familiar faces. They also know us now as well and are just so organised and helpful when it comes to wheelchairs, etc. The families go in over 3 consecutive slots so its nice and relaxed and we are all together. Its also a chance for me to say hi to everyone and take a few photos of everyone. We generally go for the lunch time slots to suit the families that like to get there earlier or later.
At the beginning of the Christmas season the rides are never too busy and the queues never too long although this time we spent most of our time in the playgrounds, of which there are many. The adults stood freezing although the hot chocolate from one of the many drink outlets helped. The children on the other hand, ran around and around and it was hard to convince the older ones to keep their coats on!
My family always stay until the lights are on when it is dark and that adds to the magic effect as we work back to the car with a last stop at the Christmas Ride (then another sneaky ride round as its quiet then) and a visit to the sweet shop for a chocolate lolly for the children and some fudge for the adults. Its well worth a try if you have never been.
All in all it was another wonderful trip and we cannot wait until next year. Thank you Sundown!
