Last Saturday, three brave (or slightly unhinged!) souls took on the Cheshire Showground 15k Tough Mudder: myself, my son Conall, and fellow Hiccups mum Kelly.
Our verdict? We completely smashed it.
It was painful, utterly filthy, and brutally cold. The kind of cold where you don’t even realise your feet have gone completely numb until you’ve been standing under a steaming hot shower at home for ten minutes waiting for the feeling to return!
Conall absolutely SMASHED it. Oh, to be 18 and young again! While Kelly and I were digging deep just to survive, he conquered every single obstacle entirely by himself without breaking a sweat. Total powerhouse performance.
A massive shout-out also has to go to Kelly. Not only did she tackle 15k of freezing obstacles on barely any sleep—courtesy of a child who had just mastered the art of scaling the stair gate—she then had to head straight home to parent through another sleepless night. Absolute superhero behaviour.
Against all odds, the three of us crossed the finish line in one piece with zero injuries and huge grins beneath the layers of grime.
Best of all, between the three of us, we managed to raise around £450!
A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored, cheered, and sent warm thoughts our way. It was pure mud and mayhem from start to finish, and we couldn’t be prouder of surviving it together.
(Cue the muddy photos!)
